My first visit to Geek Terminal

I’m here at Geek Terminal now. It’s a yet to be launched restaurant / cafe for the bohemian geek. I was here to meet Kevin for our little “project” (you’ll see it soon) and it so happened that the Ping.sg meetup is here too! (But that’s another story)

Here are some photos of some of the cool stuff you’ll find here.

The Flash bar. Its really Flash, as in Macromedia Flash. There are 24 LEDs below the counter top that lights up to Flash animations.

Apparently, there are 2 dedicated Internet lines coming into the premise and the plan, I was told, was to load-balance the two for optimal network signals. Here’s the speed test.

Instead of home-based Wifi APs they use omni-directional Ruckus APs.

Patrons to Geek Terminal can also plug in their laptops into the floor! They have a unique power strip that allows anyone to set up a power outlet anywhere by simply plugging an adapter in. Mobile power… far out.

Collapsible sound proof rooms are also available for private functions.

Tables with laptop slots. Great to stow the nice white MacBook away when the food is served.

Did I mention the serve good wine?

    Anal point from a marketer – Geek Terminal really needs to advertise (couldn’t even get their address off their website!)! That’s unless they’re solely targetting the ‘geek’ *sorry* population. Managed to google the address though.. Shows how ‘geeky’ I’m getting.. ;)

    Their address is 55 Market Street #01-01 Singapore 048941. According to the people there, they’re not showing the address on their site because its not officially open yet. Yeah, we asked the same Q too. =)

    @DK: Nice to meet you too. Strange how I see so many of you on Ping.sg, at Nexus, read your blogs, yet don’t get to meet. I guess now we have a common place to congregate. =)

    And for those who haven’t been there, I’d encourage you to. I definitely have to go back and try the food which I missed out on.
