Cruelty to dolphins
I recently watched The Cove, a documentary about the merciless slaughter of dolphins in Japan. One of the points brought up the group's leader Richard O'Barry was that dolphins should not be kept in captivity and that they suffer stress while in contained areas. He even cited the example of SeaWorld, one of the largest ocean park, as a bad example of dolphins in captivity.
This got me thinking about how much more stress dolphins would be in smaller parks. In Singapore we have the resort island Sentosa which has a Dolphin Lagoon where dolphin shows and events take place.
Already there was action taken against having a whale shark in captivity at Sentosa's new report, and I'm curious to find out if the Dolphin Lagoon just as bad for the dolphins as a large tank is for the whale shark.
